How much does IKEA furniture assembly cost in Melbourne?
We charge a $40 call-out per visit plus a fixed price per item. For example a MALM queen bed frame is $43, a MALM 6-drawer chest $91 and a BILLY bookcase $24. So a bed plus a 6-drawer chest comes to $174 all up. The full list is on this page.
How much does IKEA charge to assemble a PAX wardrobe?
In IKEA Australia's own cart (checked 15 October 2026, postcode 3000) assembly for the PAX wardrobe combination 175x58x201 cm was $165.60 and for a single PAX frame 100x58x236 cm $33.60, plus IKEA's $40 call-out fee. Doors, drawers and fittings are priced as separate items, so a full PAX wardrobe costs more than the frame alone. We charge the same per-item rates.
Can you assemble IKEA furniture I bought second-hand or on Facebook Marketplace?
Yes. IKEA's own assembly service is booked together with an IKEA order, so it doesn't cover pieces you bought elsewhere. We do. If the instructions are missing we download them from IKEA. If screws or dowels are missing, tell us what's short and we bring common fittings.
Do you anchor drawers and tall furniture to the wall?
Yes, whenever the IKEA instructions call for it (chests of drawers, bookcases, wardrobes). It is included in the price. Let us know whether the wall is plasterboard, brick or timber so we bring the right fixings.
Do you take the boxes and packaging away?
Yes, for $15 a visit, the same as IKEA charges. Otherwise we flatten the boxes and leave them for your recycling bin.
Do you assemble non-IKEA flat-pack, like Kmart, Amazon or Fantastic Furniture?
Yes. Send a photo or a link and we quote a fixed price before we come.
How long does it take?
Most single items take between half an hour and two hours. A full PAX wardrobe wall or a loft bed can take most of a day.
Is it cheaper than hiring someone by the hour?
Airtasker's cost guide puts furniture assembly at roughly $40 to $79 an hour. We price per item instead, so you know the total before we arrive and it doesn't change if a piece takes longer.
Where we go
All of metro Melbourne. Most jobs are in the west and north-west: Taylors Hill, Caroline Springs, Hillside, Taylors Lakes, Sydenham, Keilor, Sunshine, Footscray, Werribee, Point Cook, Tarneit, Truganina, Melton, Sunbury, Craigieburn and Essendon. Further out is fine. We'll tell you before booking if travel adds anything.
